February Meeting Will Read a Dorothy Sayers Play

February Meeting Will Read a Dorothy Sayers Play

Hello dear members.

I hope February is finding you all well. To honor Ash Wednesday we’ll have our meeting the following Wednesday, February 24, at 7:30 P.M. PST. Email drjimprothero@gmail.com if you want the Zoom link.

We’ve decided to pick up a club tradition for this month’s meeting, which started back in 1998. During Lent, the club began reading aloud a play by Dorothy Sayers, The Man Born To Be King: A Play-Cycle on the Life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We’ll ask for volunteers to read, and of course, you can choose just to listen.

The play-cycle was written in 1943 as 12 plays for radio broadcast. Here is a link that gives the backstory about it. You’ll also see how much Lewis loved it and praised Sayer’s for presenting the Gospel in a new way. https://www.cslewis.com/c-s-lewis-and-the-man-born-to-be-king/
Amazon has The Man Born to be King on Kindle ($9.95), and the “look inside”  feature gives you a good idea of what to expect. <https://www.amazon.com/Man-Born-be-King-ebook/dp/B00QR0MNY8>

If you don’t want to purchase the Kindle version, respond to this email, and we’ll forward you a PDF version.

Meanwhile, this blog, which is a study/book review, fleshes out the work nicely.
